Mission of the JMML Foundation Scientific Conferences Program
“To establish an international scientific forum, driven simply by a focus on the JMML disease and not by country or institutional goals, that combines clinical, basic, and translational research in order to improve survivability among JMML patients.”
Background
The first JMML International Symposium, hosted by the JMML Foundation in 2005, was a long-term planning meeting among doctors to decide how future meetings will best function in terms of topics covered, participants, locations, etc., and to avoid overlap with other organizations’ goals.
The agenda included major topics related to JMML for which speakers provided an overview in 5-10 slides. These topics served to aid discussion as to where international cooperation can focus, what future meeting presentations should be sought, and in general, “how do we take the mission statement into reality?”
